DRAWN TO LIFE
The Sketchbooks of Ben Solowey

October 12 - February 15, 1998

BEDMINSTER, PA --- The Studio of Ben Solowey announces its new exhibition, DRAWN TO LIFE featuring the work of award-winning artist Ben Solowey (1900-1978). This exhibition will remain open to the public through the winter by appointment.

DRAWN TO LIFE features a wide range of drawings, from charcoals to pastels, from pencil to pen and ink by Solowey that explore his astonishing mastery of various media and subject matter. From his never-before exhibited sketchbooks to his popular masterpieces, DRAWN TO LIFE gives visitors the opportunity to enjoy the many talents of Ben Solowey, a modern day Renaissance Man.

"As much as we like to do shows of specific aspects of Ben's work, such as this summer's Flights of Fancy exhibition," says David Leopold, director of The Studio of Ben Solowey. "to truly appreciate his work you must see the remarkable variety of landscapes, still lifes, portraits and figure works that sprang from the very talented hands of Ben Solowey"

"We are showing Ben's actual sketchbooks for the first time," Leopold continues. "They give people the opportunity to look over the artist's shoulder while he captures the initial impressions of a subject, some of which became classic Solowey masterpieces."

Solowey's spacious studio, which maintains the atmosphere of the artist at work, will itself be on display as part of the exhibit. This unique studio, and the beautiful property it sits on, were created and landscaped by Solowey after he left New York in 1942.

The Studio of Ben Solowey is located at 3551 Olde Bedminster Road in Bedminster, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. For more information on DRAWN TO LIFE or directions, contact The Studio of Ben Solowey at (215) 795-0228 . Regular admission is $3.
